Role Purpose 

As Senior Project Manager you will successfully lead and manage medium sized projects involving metricised teams with more than one stakeholder both internally and externally. Act as the single point of contact for the client for all aspects related to the project, from governance oversight to reporting and ensure excellence in project management is delivered throughout the life cycle of the project.  Build good working relationships with the client and leverage questioning skills to probe CMC needs and identify commercial opportunities.

You will be working closely with several team members across multiple functions at APC and, through a close partnership with the Project Technical Lead and the Functional Leads, lead them to successful completion of the projects.  

Key Responsibilities 

Act as Project Manager for assigned projects 

  • Independently lead medium sized projects with medium to high levels of complexity.
  • Lead the project mobilization effort and network within APC and the client to ensure timely availability of equipment, materials, and drive to resolution any special considerations that may be required such as access to 3rd party capability, safety items, quality level, external licencing. Co-ordinate timely project start and team allocation
  • Facilitate the Internal kick-off and facilitate smooth handover from Market Manager/Business Development to the project team
  • Build cohesive project teams through regular effective communications, issue resolution, clarity of responsibilities, self-awareness, and team recognition/morale
  • Define project deliverables and with the Project Technical Lead input, create the project plan. Where necessary co-ordinate client workshops to define the project deliverables. Create the Gantt chart (detailed) including the schedule of documentation deliverables, internal Process Review Workshop, external Process Options Workshop (with Market Manager).
  • Implement the iACHIEVE platform across all projects and be competent in utilising all its features.
  • Proactively manage adherence to the plan, resolve issues and escalate where necessary. Maintain a close connection with the Project Technical Lead and support them in the resolution of issues that arise. Manage external subcontractor work where that forms part of the project (eg. UCD, Eurofins, etc)
  • Manage Project budget control to ensure project adherence to Budget/FTE/timeline. Manage invoicing, Extension vs overrun and write, justify, and drive approval of Change Order requests
  • Support and lead all governance and progress reporting related aspects of the project, both internal and external
  • Support the coordination of and participate in the Expand Framework workshops, both internal and external, with a focus on enhancing the overall value delivered to the client, while delivering increased commercial value to APC
  • At project completions, manage the report approval process and project close out process with the client Organise and complete the AAR
  • Support and participate in any Root Cause Investigations and communicate the outcome to the client Client Relationship & Customer Success
  • Be the primary point of contact for clients during project delivery, understanding and representing their needs and delivering solutions that create a best-in-class client experience
  • Maintain a strong technical and commercial awareness, actively seeking opportunities by leveraging listening and questioning skills to deliver increased value through the life cycle of the project. Work with the Market Manager and BDD to capture and successfully position this additional project value to the client
  • Build strong working relationships with clients through project updates, workshops and 1-to-1 conversations so that you are a trusted peer whose input and opinion is respected, leveraging this to build a broader understanding and insights of the account, how/where APC could add value beyond current project/area, this supporting the BDD and Market Managers on the overall account strategy
  • With the support of the BDD, lead and manage any points of conflict, client objections and project related escalations that may arise during the project. Develop and improve the Project Management function
  • Actively improve the templates and project management processes that are used by the project management function to deliver increased value to APC
  • Work collaboratively with the Functional leaders, technical leads and others to ensure the processes are fit for purpose and meet the needs of the cross-functional APC environment. Actively develops strong network within APC • Provide mentorship and direction for younger members of the project management team

 Requirements 

  • Ability to produce high quality deliverables and work in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Successful track record in project management of pharmaceutical process design projects.
  • Proven track record in internal and external technical communication.

 Experience

  • PhD/MSc/BSc in Chemistry or Bioscience or
  • PhD/BE/ME Chemical Engineering or related
  • area.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 Certification nice to have
